Contemplations

What do you have faith in?

What do you have faith in?

Really, what is it? Is that you will have a good life? That you will be taken care of? That you will become famous? That you will be loved by others? That you will be important? That you will be married? Have kids and family? Is it in the religion you were raised in? in God? Science?

Faith is not really a religious term.  Faith is about what we rely on, what we trust in, what we are loyal too.

And tbh, to say one has Faith in God or a religion, or that one is  loved by God is often only something  that you “say” but not something that you make choices by. Which is what FAITH is. Our Faith determines our choices.

Faith is an inner narrative we tell ourselves about what we can or should trust in, what our life experiences mean and what is worthy of relying on.

Humans live by faith, we make choices by faith, we have too because EVERYTHING is uncertain and always changing- and we must decide what to do based on what we TRUST in.

Faith is rooted in trust.

This is why it’s imperative that you are clear about your own faith- what are you really trusting in?

Some have said their faith is God or a certain religion, in Science or some other belief system…

However, I submit that when it comes down to it, our faith is not in what we “confess” to believe in.

Our faith is found in the motivation of the choices we make. And this means that our faith is actually found in our shadow. This means that we aren’t clear about what our faith is really in, until we examine our shadow- which is a slippery little fish.

When we examine our shadow we will learn and understand that our faith is not in something we “say” we believe in. See, we actually reveal our faith, through our actions. Because our actions show us what we have faith in. We take action, based on what we trust!

What you really trust in is: culture, your friends, your family, your job, your partner, your car, your familiar surroundings, your home,  money,  the stock market, a retirement fund,  that your business will sell products, that people will like you, that you will do a good job and be promoted, that you will be taken care of by someone etc.

There is no right or wrong to what your faith is in. Only, are you clear about what it really is that you TRUST in?

You can know this by observing how you respond when things don’t work out for you. If you are upset when something doesn’t work out, then yes, you had FAITH in whatever that was; a job, a marriage, a relationship, a friend, etc.

You can also test yourself by asking, how would you respond if:

You lost all your money.

You lost your job.

You lost your car.

Your reputation is damaged.

You have a life threatening disease.

You can’t exercise.

You can’t have your normal routine.

Your marriage ends.

You breakup with a partner.

You got cancelled on social media.

People ridiculed you.

People talked about you behind your back.

Your friends didn’t want to be friends anymore.

You got in trouble at work.

You lost your clients.

The person you loved passed away.

Your scientific theory or religious idea was proved inaccurate.

If you respond by being devastated, upset, hurt, confused, depressed, heartbroken, etc- then yes, you had FAITH in that which you lost.

So your faith was not in God or religion, or being loved by God, your faith was in the thing that you lost.

Again, It’s not wrong to have faith in a job or your marriage, or a partner or being liked or any of the other things. However, having faith in these things, does leave you at the mercy of them. Meaning that you are constantly at the mercy of things that are in constant change.

I would know, I’ve seen my faith tested in almost all of these ways. And through this, I’ve learned how to have faith in life- in my soul, in great Spirit and in Source. Having faith in Life, in Source, in Spirit does not equate to having everything work out in a way that looks good on paper or is easy, pleasant or glamourous.

It means, trusting that learning and growth is happening FOR a deeper purpose, which I submit, is to learn. Well, what exactly are we supposed to learn? Good question. From what I gather at this point in my life, we are here to learn to detach from an expectation for life to be a certain way, to learn to be with the unknown, to learn to experience what is happening NOW (not future casting or living in the past) , to be in the present moment, to accept life is flowing and changing form, to learn how to love and how to hate and how to remove judgement of others and simply to discern what is right for you in the present moment.

As they say, never say never, and thus, there is no need to judge what is right and wrong of others because each moment, for each person, demands an account that they only they can discern for themselves, and that moment is their teacher, whether they learn now or later or after their death. Since we are energy and energy is neither created nor destroyed, we are eternally, changing forms and thus learning.

You can trust in and have faith in whatever you want- just be clear about what it is, because you are the Mercy of what you place your trust in. So if things don't work out in a way that feels good, you can understand that the instability is found in what your faith is in.

Personally, I want to live by faith that isn't going to be lost when I encounter something that is difficult or uncertain.

The path of consciousness is the path of choosing what you place your faith. So, choose as you desire!
