The thread line
I've been interested in alternative holistic modalities since my 20's, but it took me until 2019 to begin to learn about and eat only organic food. I was 36 when I took a deep dive into the epidemic around our food supply and chemicals like glyphosate that are incredibly toxic and contributing to the failing health of the world. There are so many studies that support the awareness that what you put into your body, is creating your cells, and thus, either creating health or creating dis-ease.
I remember when I first started talking to co-workers about organic food and they were intrigued but weary. One day, I had several extra tomatoes, which were organic, and I was going out of town so I brought them in to share and one co-worker told me she wouldn't take them because her son vowed he would never eat organic food. So the more natural, less chemical, less artificial is somehow repugnant?
Alot of people don't desire to learn about holistic and healthy habits about nutrition because health has not yet become a priority for them. I get it. It’s a LOT of information. And the people we think should know are the very people who also struggling with their own nutrition. New information about food is often contrary to what we think we know or what we are comfortable with. We have to give something up? We have to change?? Food and nutrition is a key element of life and to take ownership of these parts of us is one of the biggest challenges we face as humans. Especially in a world of fast, frenzy, free and easy. Nutrition represents nurturing, slowing down, resting, quietness and all of these are contrary to the fast paced yang world we are creating.
It is so important to remember that the journey of learning about health, takes time. And there isn’t one right way. Having walked this path for a long time, I know that the human tendency is to want someone to just TELL US WHAT TO DO! It’s frustrating, there is so much information out there; do we eat this or that? Are nightshades safe for you? Can you digest eggs? Do you need more meat or does your body reject it? is coffee good or bad? No wonder we don’t take the time to learn about it, there is a lot of conflicting information and to learn about it means that we have do more than just copy and paste; we have to do the thing a comfortable human avoids doing; learn through experimenting; aka, what we’ve termed, the hard way. Although it isn’t really hard; we call it hard because we don’t get the answer right away. Truth is that someone is saying “I learned this so you don’t have too” - then they did not learn. Because we can NOT short cut things for people; because all true learning means that we have to do our own experiment, we have to test, trial and decipher the results- and there are no shortcuts for this.
When I started to learn about Organic Food, I did not share it with everyone. No, I didn’t broadcast what I was doing and insist this THIS was the right way and that everyone else was participating in the evil scheme of the government. I didn't do this, becuase I had already learned my lesson of thinking that I KNOW the right way things should be. (through religion)
Instead, I just went on the journey for myself and began to explore, what is true about what is being said? I began to experiment. I began to try different things and learn what would work for me and what seemed to be true, for me and what wasn’t. It has taken years and I am still experimenting and learning.
While I think eating organic/ non gmo is going to yield greater health results; I also know that there is something more important than the physical food you ingest; and that is the unseen food you ingest; thoughts, images, songs, ideas. There is nothing that will impact you more than your own inner world of thoughts.
This is why I am so excited about the Somatic Release and Reprogramming Sessions I created; I know that the inner unconscious and subconscious realm hold much more power than the external world. I know that the power of your mind supercedes the power of the food you ingest. You can eat the healthiest, purest food in the world, but if you don’t have power over the inner world, if you are living in fear, resentment, blame and the like; the food will become just as toxic inside the body.
So, yes, I think it would be great if everyone would toss all processed food (anything in a plastic bag), ditch fast food restaurants, throw away and avoid all seed oils, and eat whole foods; but at the end of the day, if you begin to peer into your inner world first, if you become aware of how you feel after you eat something; (are you bloated? Do you feel tired, lethargic, struggle to sleep, or have less energy?) You are more likely to become clear and cognizant of the food that doesn’t feel good to you- and anything else in your lfe. And when we make choices from this space of awareness, we won’t have time to force other people to get it because it will take time energy to focus on yourself and you will no longer have time or energy to focus on what others are doing.
I encourage you to muse about this for yourself, how do you feel after you eat? How do you want to feel? What if you could feel good, satisfied and energetic? What foods are you eating that might be contributing to the other symptoms you are struggling with? Your body knows. Your mind might fight it, becuase we don't want our favorite things to be the thing we have to give up. But, I can assure you that the body will adjust and you can find pleasure without compromise. Also, are you starving yourself? I’ve watched more than one friend starve themselves to maintain weight and this kind of control tactic is a suppression of pleasure in every way. We can’t suppress one part of our pleasure system without suppressing the whole.
The thread line to everything is what is happening internally. Deep inner feelings and thoughts. What are you saying to yourself? What is your inner dialogue? Knowing what to do to create an empowered mind is my speciality and along with 1:1 Somatic Sessions; I will be creating more spaces and workshops to support you on your personal journey of empowerment.
Sending all immense love.
